Upon arrival in Johannesburg at 7:50 am you will be met by a Menzies Aviation representative, who will assist you through customs and immigrations and to collect your luggage. If your aircraft is parked on a Shute, a Menzies representative carrying a name board will meet you when exiting the door of the aircraft Shute. They will assist you to immigration, where you may make use of the Fast Track line, before proceeding to the carousels to collect your luggage. Thereafter, you will be assisted through customs to the airline counters to check-in for your onward flight (9:10 am/11:20 am). If your aircraft is parked in a remote bay on the tarmac, please make use of the standard Airports Company Bus service for the transfer to the terminal building, where the Menzies representative will be waiting for you with a name board, and assist you further as above.
Upon arrival in Cape Town, collect your baggage and proceed to the exit. Here you will be met by a Wilderness Touring representative for your road transfer to the One & Only Hotel where you will stay for four nights.
At 4:00 pm meet your Wilderness Touring guide in the lobby for your afternoon private half day city, Table Mountain and Sundowner.
Depart the city in the afternoon for Table Mountain’s Lower Cableway Station. Explore the mountain’s summit and absorb the breath-taking views before descending. Return to the city via the old Cape Malay Quarter, for a walk through the Company Gardens, a fresh produce garden for ships and locals from the mid-17th Century, and now home to the South Africa Museum, Houses of Parliament, National Gallery and St George’s Cathedral. Stroll through the city to Greenmarket Square, where you can browse the bustling market stalls for beautiful and unique African mementos. From here enjoy “sundowners” (typical South African end-of-day drinks) of sparkling wine or soft drinks whilst admiring the breath-taking views as the sun sets over the Atlantic Ocean. The sundowner location will depend on the routing which is weather dependent.

The day is at leisure to relax and adjust to the time difference. Cape Town is recognized as one of the most beautiful places on earth. Offering a range of attractions, breathtaking sights and endless activities, it is a year-round holiday destination with friendly people, a mild climate and rich cultural heritage.
Within easy reach of your hotel, the V&A Waterfront offers world class shopping and entertainment opportunities. Walk past loud blubbery seals sunning on the pier and take the ferry to Robben Island The fascinating and inspirational Robben Island is a symbol both of centuries of cruel oppression and the triumph of hope. It has become synonymous with the former leader of the free and democratic South Africa, Nelson Mandela, who spent 18 years in its maximum security prison.
Walk a Museum Mile. Running straight as an arrow down the leafy haven of Companyโs Gardens (a symbolic silent bell stands testimony to the slaves who once toiled in this former vegetable garden) is the oak-lined pedestrian strip of Government Avenue, providing access to Adderley Street, the National Gallery (with permanent and temporary exhibitions showcasing South African art spanning the centuries, as well as the occasional retrospectives of the likes of Picasso and Marelene Dumas), and the Iziko Slave Lodge (built by the Dutch East India Company to house up to 9,000 slaves, convicts and the mentally ill).
Sit in one of the relaxed bars that line the Victoria Waterfront and listen to the numerous languages and dialects that fill the air. Sample the delightful cuisine, and discover a sensational blend of flavors as diverse as its cosmopolitan influences..
Cape Town’s best gastronomy is to be found dotted around the central city. Try Jardine for pared down, subtle flavors (dishes might include tender Chalmar beef fillet with oxtail, and tomatoey West Coast crayfish risotto), Bizerca Bistro for bistro classics with a fresh twist brought to you by award-winning chef Laurent Deslandes, or La Colombe, where chef Luke Dale-Roberts wows foodies from across the globe with the likes of springbok medallions with celeriac purรฉe in a rich port and truffle sauce.
For an authentic taste of Cape Malay food (samosas, lamb denningvleis, or mild chicken kalya) head to Biesmiellahโs. For dishes from across the local spectrum, try Nyoniโs Kraal, which serves braaivleis (barbecue), Malay curries, amangina (chicken feet) and smileys (sheepโs heads). For something more universally appealing, try the Africa Cafรฉ, where youโll have your pick of everything from Xhosa spinach patties and Mozambican peri-peri prawns to Ethiopian lamb. Mama Africa is another Pan-African treat, boasting a live (and loud) Congolese band and as much meat from feathered, scaled and furry beasts as you can eat, all served with a side of samp and pap (mealie meal porridge). Thereโs more African food at Marcoโs African Place. The menu includes specialties like Zwelethuโs Favourite Chicken and a platter of pan-fried springbok, ostrich and kudu fillets. Taste the food of Ethiopia at the beautiful and authentically decorated Addis in Cape, where you are encouraged to eat with your hands, mopping up every drop sauce with pieces of injera (flatbread).

At 5:20 am meet your Wilderness Touring guide in the lobby of your hotel for a full day great white shark diving excursion in Gansbaai. Upon arrival at the Great White House in Kleinbaai, you will receive breakfast and register your wetsuit size. You will listen to a pre-trip safety briefing about what to expect during the trip and biological background on great white sharks. Board the Slashfin for the 20 minute trip to Dyer Island.
Named after a legendary 3,3 m male shark with a very distinctive dorsal fin, the Slashfin is a unique, multi-million rand aluminum boat, custom designed for speed, stability, safety and space and can comfortably accommodate 40 passengers and the crew at a time.
On average, the boat is anchored for two hours, depending on shark activity, weather conditions, and the number of divers on board. On any given day, there is the possibility of seeing at least two or more members of the Marine Big Five – sharks, dolphins, whales, seals and penguins, as well as several bird species.
Experts and researchers on board will show you how to distinguish between a male and female shark, and how to identify a specific shark by its unique dorsal fin and scars.
On return to shore, after warming up with some hot soup and bread, your Wilderness Touring guide will be standing by to drive you back to Cape Town. If you did not yet see whales, you can swing by Hermanus to see if you can see any from the shore, before heading back to the city.
What to bring:
– Most importantly bring your swimsuit/bathing costume (if going in the cage)
– Warm clothes โ even in summer it can get chilly at sea.
– A camera, sunscreen and a hat/cap in summer.
– Breakfast is provided prior to boarding, snacks on board; and soup and bread on return to land.
– You will receive a numbered bag with a wetsuit and a clean towel.
– Booties, masks and weight belt are provided.
– We highly recommend guests who are prone to any kind of motion sickness (or are unsure if they are) to use anti-nausea medication well in advance.
