After breakfast, you will be transferred to Johannesburg Airport to board your scheduled flight to Maun, where you will connect with your second flight to the Okavango Delta. Upon arrival, you will be met by a camp vehicle and transferred to Duba Explorer Camp where you will stay for four nights. Time permitting, enjoy lunch and an afternoon activity.
Duba Explorers Camp is tucked away in the northeast corner of the Duba Plains concession, a 33 000 hectares private reserve in the Okavango Delta. Due to its location at the Okavango Deltaโs northern reaches, the surroundings are dominated by the permanent floodplain, interspersed with seasonal floodplains and grasslands and pockets of mopane and acacia woodlands.
Duba Explorers Camp is situated on an island surrounded by the pristine Okavango Delta and enjoys its separate traversing area, separated from Duba Plains Camp. Under a canopy of mature jackalberry, leadwood, mangosteen, and sycamore-fig trees, the camp has year-round shade. The campโs location provides clear, unobstructed views across the surrounding water channels and allows cool breezes through the camp and guest tents.
Duba Explorers, part of Great Plainsโ Explorers Collection and designed by Dereck and Beverly Joubert, explorers themselves, embodies the golden age of safaris and the spirit of exploration. The camp consists of five airy canvas tents, each raised on decking, stylishly furnished with a campaign writing desk, private verandah, and en-suite facilities. Guests wake up to panoramic views of the Delta floodplains and, during the flood season, the water channels link to open water filled with flowering water lilies and tall papyrus. The main area is set under sweeping marquee canvas, on raised decking with an open-concept dining and lounge area.

Enjoy three full days at Duba Explorers Camp.
Being part of a floodplain for most of the year, the camp is on an island surrounded by beautiful landscapes and watercourses. The camp is accessible only by a gum pole bridge. During your siesta, lounge on the daybed on your veranda, absorbing the peacefulness and tranquillity of your surroundings. During the flood season, you might even be lucky to catch sight of spotted neck otters swimming and eating. Listen out for the prolific birdlife. At night, let the hippos sing you to sleep. Sometimes, the roar of a lion cracks through the night as he calls out to his pride.
During a stay at Duba Explorers Camp, guests step into the shoes of the early adventurers. Explore the water channels associated with the Ngoga River system by boat or traditional canoes (mekoro), meandering through channels created by hippos and elephants. The mekoro allows you to glide silently through the channel systems and experience a peaceful water world around you. With over 400 bird species, birding is unsurpassed, with spectacular species like the malachite kingfisher zipping past you in a burst of colour. Vehicle safaris in this paradise allow for exciting encounters with the predators resident in the area. On guided walks, explore the islands, wetlands, and plains, following the tracks and interpreting the signs of the wild. Guests might even be lucky enough to get a glimpse of a rare sitatunga or an elusive leopard.
The unique flooding cycles of the Okavango Delta create a mosaic of habitats from permanent wetlands to seasonal floodplains to woodlands and grasslands around Duba Explorers Camp and fosters an incredible diversity of wildlife. Plains created by dropping water levels in the dry season (December to April) form a perfect habitat for zebra, wildebeest, kudus, and tsessebes. In the flood season (May to November), the area transforms into a water wonderland bringing its aquatic diversity. The year-round healthy herbivore population, including elephant, buffalo, and lechwe and suitable hunting terrain, attracts predators such as lions, leopards, and wild dogs.

After the morning activity (time permitting) and breakfast, you will be transferred to the airstrip for the scheduled charter flight to Selinda Explorers Camp.
Upon arrival, you will be met by a camp vehicle and transferred to Selinda Explorers Camp where you will stay for fournights. Time permitting, enjoy lunch and an afternoon activity.
Selinda Explorers Camp is located in the 130,000 hectare Selinda Reserve of northern Botswana and is built on the banks of the Selinda Spillway. This classic camp transports us back to the time of authentic safaris, but with a modern twist and hospitality. The campโs focal point is the Bedouin-style main area consisting of a lounge and separate dining room. The four guests tents provide comfort and style but with a magnificently raw spirit. Subtly placed under the shade of the riverine forest, the camp is designed in the style of the early explorers both in philosophy and practice. Whiling away afternoons under the canopy of African ebony and Mopane trees, interspersed with walks and canoeing, make this a respite from the โdaily grindโ of a traditional safari.

Early morning and late afternoon/early evening game activities to suit, including guided walking safaris and game drives where required in open 4ร4 vehicles.
The camp sits in prime predator habitat, in a location which we handpicked based on exploring this area for years. Lion, leopard and cheetah and the recently discovered Explorers Pack of African wild dog hunt these parts regularly. Good densities of giraffe, buffalo (in the dry season) and all the antelope โ even including roan and sable and recently spotted eland โ are possible sightings. At the peak of the dry season in late September, the Selinda Reserve has been documented to hold up to 9,000 elephants. There is phenomenal birdlife along the Spillwayโs banks for those looking for some โlifersโ.
