On early morning and afternoon game drives expect to see a huge range of creatures, from big cats such as lions and leopards, to hippo, rhino, antelope, giraffe and buffalo. Widely acknowledged to be the predator capital of the world, this is the only place in Botswana where the Big Five can be found. Night drives “into the middle of nowhere” are an amazing experience—a rare opportunity to be surrounded by the infinite darkness of the African bush. Don’t say a word, but simply gaze up at the stars and listen to the sounds. Nocturnal animals are out on the prowl—scuffling, howling and, if you are lucky, emitting the occasional deep-throated roar.
On a walking safari through the delta you are totally enveloped in nature. You spot amazing things close-up: an insect, animal tracks, big game droppings, swarming termite mounds. These small, unexpected aspects of life often make the biggest impression. If a game drive is like reading a book: a walking safari is actually like becoming a character in that book.
The lodge enjoys a unique location close to a San bushmen’s village. You may wish to visit this village (additional cost) and you may be invited into a private home to experience aspects of the villagers way of life of people who have had to adapt their ancient traditions to modern times.

The Seba Camp area is known for its large elephant population. In addition, unlike the permanently inundated areas of the Okavango Delta, the habitats around Seba Camp vary greatly, allowing for an abundance of general game viewing, including giraffe, zebra, antelope such as impala, tsessebe, lechwe and wildebeest, and buffalo and warthog. Leopard are common, and hyaena and African wild dog are also regularly seen, while a number of lion have moved into the area, and can sometimes be heard roaring at night. The birding around camp is exceptional. Particularly exciting species include: malachite kingfisher, white-browed coucal, Luapula cisticola, pied kingfisher, rufous-bellied heron and great egret.
With a splendid diversity of habitat there are a multitude of species to encounter during morning, afternoon and evening game drives in open Land Rovers. The variety and numbers of animal and bird species allows us insights into some fascinating behavior and compelling interactions. Exploring the concession by night yields fascinating sights of nocturnal animals including predators who often hunt under cover of darkness, from hyaena to owls.
Glide silently through pristine waterways of the Okavango Delta in a mokoro (traditional-style dugout canoe) to gain a unique perspective on the diversity of life both big and small in this fascinating ecosystem. Water-level dependent, boating is another idyllic form of water wildlife viewing.

Game drives are conducted in the mornings and afternoon/evenings at camp. They usually last about three hours each and are conducted along the river systems and flood plains around the camp. These excursions take place in the mornings or longer day trips can be arranged. Explore the islands around camp and come back rested and rejuvenated.
Walking safaris are also conducted generally in the morning with armed guides. The walks are leisurely and time is taken to observe the smaller things in the bush that one normally misses when driving. Walking is weather dependent, or dependent on the condition of the terrain.

The ultimate luxury is space, and Abu is located in a 180,000-hectare (445,000-acre) private concession in the heart of Botswana’s Okavango Delta, one of the world’s most important wetland ecosystems. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site and wildlife stronghold of global significance (and home to huge herds of elephant), the Delta was the natural choice for this pioneering elephant conservation project.
The area’s diverse habitats, abundant water and plentiful natural vegetation offer an ideal home for a great variety of wildlife but also for the Abu Herd – elephants that have been rescued from exploitative situations or saved from harm, and which we ultimately aim to introduce into the Okavango.
Their presence at Abu gives you the opportunity to share experiences with elephants in their natural habitat and to see the Okavango through their eyes. This is truly a transformative experience – it will change how you think about elephants, wilderness and life itself.
At the same time, Abu aims to provide the very best in luxury safari accommodation, impeccable service and an extraordinary safari and wildlife experience in one of the largest and most diverse private concessions in the Okavango. Abu is also a haven of peace and tranquillity where the rhythms of elephant life guide certain activities each day.
Other iconic Okavango species are regularly sighted, including buffalo, red lechwe, giraffe, zebra. The birding is superb, and predators including lion, leopard, wild dog, cheetah and even serval can also be spotted.

As a meerkats wake up time is weather dependent, breakfast might be enjoyed in camp on cooler and rainy days, or as a picnic on warmer, sunnier days. By spending quality time with these incredibly social, superbly adapted animals, you will be able to see how they interact with each other and their environment. You also get the chance to see the Kalahari Desert through the eyes of a meerkat – which, despite the fact that it’s only a foot off the ground, is a pretty spectacular vantage point, and definitely one of the most special and memorable game experiences you will encounter in Botswana.
Visit a remote cattle post to learn about the traditional culture of the Batswana people.
Close by is the famous Chapman’s Baobab which is acknowledged to be the third largest tree in Africa, and was the campsite of early explorers like Livingstone and Selous when they pioneered the area.
Return to camp for lunch and a siesta. After tea, travel down to the pans where you will be given a brief safety talk before mounting your trusty quad bike, and head off across the pans. Watch the sun set and the stars rise. This is one of the only places in the world where the silence is so complete you can hear the blood circulating through your ears. Room Basis Fully Inclusive – Bed, All Meals, Fees and Activities

Enjoy two full days of game viewing activities at Xigera Camp.
Whilst the emphasis at Xigera is on water activities, making this the perfect ‘water camp,’ game drives are also offered all year round.
There is no better way of viewing game and capturing the essence of the Okavango than by traditional mokoro (dugout canoe). The Okavango-born guide and poler will reveal the wiles and secrets of living in the Delta while you spot tiny frogs and colourful waterbirds.
Explore even further during morning and afternoon game drives where wildlife like lion, leopard and hyaena, buffalo and elephant can be seen.
Short nature walks are possible around the islands whilst out in the boat or on mokoro excursions. This may be your chance to spot that Pel’s fishing-owl as well as other water-loving wildlife.
Water-level dependent, boating is another idyllic form of viewing water-based wildlife. Hippo and crocodile are often seen on these adventures, and sometimes even the elusive sitatunga.
Fishing with a limited supply of basic equipmentis on offer seasonally on a catch-and-release basis.

Enjoy two full days of game viewing activities at Chitabe Camp.
Chitabe Camp is located in the Chitabe Concession, which covers 22,000 hectares of pristine Okavango Delta wilderness. This unique area harbours a massive variety of habitats within close proximity giving rise to a surprising diversity of species. The mix of Okavango and Kalahari makes for an excellent home to an abundant array of herbivores: giraffe, buffalo, red lechwe, tsessebe, impala and elephant, which in turn support the larger predators: lion, leopard, spotted hyaena, cheetah and wild dog.
Game viewing tops the agenda here. Morning and afternoon game drives in open 4 x 4 Land Rovers reveal the rich wildlife of the area from predators to prey. While night drives with spotlights allow you to find those nocturnal animals you wouldn’t see during the day such as civet, genet and bushbabies, as well as owls and perhaps leopard.
Walking safaris with skilled, armed guides are wonderful ways of getting close to nature and observing the smaller things you miss when traveling by vehicle.

Leroo La Tau is situated on the western bank of the Boteti River, north-west of Khumaga village, about 140 kilometres south-east of Maun.
The lodge offers guided day and night game drives. Depending on the water level, boat activities are also provided. An optional cultural excursion to Khumaga Village, as well as guided nature walks in the area surrounding the lodge, can be arranged at no additional charge.
