9:00 am: You will be collected by an Alluring Africa representative and taken on your Full Day Peninsula Tour.
This is an awe-inspiring tour to the towering headland known as Cape Point. Magnificent beaches, breathtaking views, historic and picturesque coastal villages are to be seen along the way. The Cape Peninsula is one of the worldโs most scenic areas and stretches from the City centre to Cape Point.
We travel along the Atlantic Seaboard via Sea Point, Clifton, and Camps Bay, stopping at a Llandudno look-out point before continuing to Hout Bay, a quaint village and fishing harbour with magnificent mountain views and beach. Optional: Seal Island boat trip (seasonal, weather permitting). From Hout Bay then through Chapmanโs Peak, one of the worldโs most breathtaking coastal drives, to Cape Point and the Good Hope Nature Reserve, which has magnificent fynbos vegetation, birdlife, endemic antelope species and zebra, historic lighthouses and shipwrecks. Cape Point is perceived to be the meeting point of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans.
After lunch at a nearby restaurant, we go on to historic Simonโs Town, a village with charming Victorian architecture, a naval base and a large penguin colony at the beautiful Boulders Beach. Boulders Penguin Colony is home to a growing colony of the vulnerable African Penguin. Wooden walkways allow visitors to view the penguins in their natural habitat and there is also a new information centre. We then make our way back to Cape Town via the scenic Boyes Drive overlooking the False Bay coastline or via the winding Ou Kaapse Weg mountain pass. You’ll return to your hotel at 5:00 pm.

Enjoy one full day of activities at Mosaic Lagoon Lodge.
To experience the Cape Whale Coast is to experience a majesty unlike any other. The air is clean, the water is clear and the scenery is spectacular. Grab a couple of kayaks and venture into the Hermanus Lagoon, stroll down the Walker Bay dunes and find your peace, or drink the ancient drink of wine and live in its flavor.
Hop aboard Lady Stanford for a scenic cruise along the Klein River toward the Hermanus Estuary bird sanctuary, and back. Lady Stanford is a spacious eco-friendly riverboat offering a sheltered lower deck and open-top deck, perfect for the ultimate photo opportunities. The Klein River is home to over a hundred bird species that include majestic fish eagles, elegant pink flamingos and blue cranes. Keep an eye out for otters, turtles, bontebok and horses along the banks of the river as you make your way toward the lagoon. Although guests are requested to bring their own refreshments, drinking glasses and ice are provided on each trip.
Enjoy nature walks around Mosaic and discover a rich tapestry of flora and bid life! The Cape Floral Kingdom has the greatest diversity of plant life per geographic area on earth (almost 9,000 species), but 17% are critically rare or endangered. One-third of the fynbos that once existed has already been lost to agriculture, development, and the invasion of several alien plant species. These plants were imported in the mid 1800โs, without knowledge of long term consequences. Without local biological controls, they have choked out massive areas of indigenous plants, dried up water catchments and streams, and contributed to erosion.
โStanford kayaking excursions on the Hermanus Lagoon take you from the worlds chaos, and place you in a world of stillness. Drift down the South African coastline and experience the serenity of this private getaway. Enjoy a morning cruise or a sunset ride as you get lost in the vastness of the ocean and the lagoon. Whether you stay in the luxury of our Lagoon Lodge or the simplicity of our self-catering Cottages, kayak excursions are a must. Most excursions are to the Hermanus Lagoon. Being right in our backyard, its surreal views tend to capture our guests. There you will find calm waters, beautiful sunsets, and mountain ranges. If you are feeling adventurous, take the kayak to the open sea. There, the waters may roll a bit more, whales may draw near, and adventure will assuredly be beckoning at the door!
Fynbos quad biking tours are a favorite activity with guests! You will ride along the edge of the lagoon and up to high points on Mosaic. There, 360 degree views of the ocean, lagoon, and mountains will accompany you. Along the way you will learn about magnificent flora, birds, mammals, and lagoon wetlands. These beautiful characteristics are inherent to the fynbos biome of South Africaโs southern coast, and it is truly a terrain like no other. The uniqueness of beauty on this adventure makes it one you will not wish to miss during your stay at Mosaic.
โWhale Watching from Land: Hermanus and Walker Bay are known as the best place in the world to do land-based whale watching. Between June and December, Southern Right Whales migrate from the icy waters of Antarctica to these warmer sheltered bays to court, mate and calf. They can seen as close as 30 meters from the shore, breaching, spraying, tail slapping and lob tailing.
โOff the coast of Gansbaai, located between Dyer Island and Geyser Rock, Shark Alley is the worldโs premier post for spotting Great White Sharks. These awesome predators grow to over 20 feet long and love to show their teeth. Equipped with a wet suit, a bucket of nerves, and possibly an underwater camera, adrenaline junkies can plunge into a sturdy cage in the water to see these magnificent beasts eye to eye (additional charge).
โPanthera Africa is an ethical sanctuary for any captive bred big cats in need of rescue. Animal welfare is their top priority. The animals will be protected and prosper for the rest of their lives at Panthera Africa! One of Panthera Africaโs main purposes is to be an educational platform where they create awareness about conditions big cats face in captivity, and how animal welfare and enrichment play a vital role in giving them the best captive life possible. They are a true sanctuary where no cub petting, breeding or trading takes place. Panthera Africa is open for visitors to come and enjoy the magnificent Big Cats including lions, tigers, leopard and caracals. They offer educational visits where you hear their unique heart felt stories, in addition to learning facts about the species themselves and the critical situations they are facing. โ*PRE-BOOKING ESSENTIAL* Please ask at Reception for further information. Enjoy three full days of game viewing activities at Mhondoro Safari Lodge.
The rich and varied Waterberg region offers a diverse variety of unspoiled habitats. More than 50 mammals, 300 bird species and 2,000 plant species can be found within these habitats. The savanna areas consist of rolling grasslands and a semi-deciduous forest. The mammal population boasts all of Africaโs renowned Big 5, as well as cheetah, giraffe, crocodile, hippo, brown hyena, honey badger, as well as the worldโs biggest concentration of the highly endangered white rhino on private land. The Reserveโs renowned anti-poaching unit has ensured that not one of these gargantuan grazers have ever been lost to poaching โ which is an incredible feat on a continent where the practice is endemic.
Game drives take place in the early morning, before breakfast, or in the late afternoon after tea. During the morning game drives your ranger will choose a pleasant spot for a refreshing cup of coffee or tea and pre-breakfast nibbles. On the afternoon or evening game drives, you can toast the magical bush sunsets with a sundowner accompanied by snacks. You might find yourself magically atop a mountain ridge, amazed at the majestic beauty of the African landscape, while holding a glass of South African wine or a gin & tonic in one hand, and a typical African snack, like biltong (a local version of beef jerky), in the other.
Guided bush walks provide the perfect opportunity to explore the flora and fauna around the lodge at close quarters. Rangers will tell you all about the wonders of the wilderness as they take you up-close-and-personal with nature. Taking no chances with your safety, they will guide you on safe encounters with Africaโs renowned Big 5 โlion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhino โor with the many other species living within the reserve, such as giraffe, kudu and warthog. Or how about looking out for the fascinating so-called โLittle 5โ that can be found in the reserve too โelephant shrew, leopard tortoise, rhinoceros beetle, buffalo weaver and ant lion?
You have the option to track rhino (additional charge) while accompanied by your experienced Ranger. Due to the varied terrain, rhinos can be tracked on foot and observed in their natural habitat. The male white rhino weighs in at more than 2,000 kg. As grazers they are perfectly at home in the beautiful valleys and plateaus of the Reserve. Our rhino population is in excellent health and in good numbers with a few youngsters born each year. There is an excellent chance of seeing a โcrashโ of rhino, which is the collective noun for these large pachyderms. You may even catch a glimpse of a juvenile or a new-born still learning the ropes from its mother.
South African rock art is a precious historical asset, and Mhondoro offers a guided excursion to the two rock art sites located within Welgevonden Game Reserve (additional charg). Both sites, named Onverwacht and Vanderwaltsdrift, contain layers of San Bushman โfine-lineโ paintings, as well as later finger-painted images. The images date back hundreds of years, with the oldest paintings likely to be thousands of years old. It is suggested that the San moved around the Waterberg around 2500 years ago, followed later by the arrival of Bantu speaking tribes from West Africa, arriving to trade with their cattle and sheep, as well as grains.
A safari guide has a huge responsibility, as their role is not only to protect the natural diversity of the wilderness, but also to ensure the safety of all guests. As part of their safari training, all field guides have to master the safe use of a rifle. Mhondoro has designed an exciting target shooting excursion for those guests (16 years and older) interested in learning some of the bush and rifle skills our rangers require to conduct their daily responsibilities safely and responsibly (additional charge).
For many, just being on safari in Africa is a romantic experience in itself. The opportunity to be in the wild, absorbing the atmosphere and breathing in the pristine natural air is glorious on its own. Adding in the star deck to this experience, as an exceptional vantage point to gaze up at the vast Africa night sky, will take romance to a whole new level. As your own private viewing deck of the infinite constellations, with very little light pollution in the area, you can look up into the Milky Way from where, on a clear night, you should be able to see about 2,500 stars. You will be able to spot the Southern Cross constellation with its two stars of Alpha and Beta Centauri, often referred to as the โpointersโ to help stargazers locate the asterism of the Southern Cross.
