Scotland’s history has given rise to a unique culture, of which clan tartans and bagpipes are just the beginning. There is something about this nation that makes people who aren’t from here, wish they were. The country that gave us golf, television, ATMs and of course whisky, also has some of Europe’s wildest and most beautiful scenery.
From the islands to Highlands, Scotland’s landscapes are breath-taking: deep lochs, purple hills and rocky peaks. The vistas seem perfectly designed as the backdrop to legends and love stories, and so they have been, time and time again.
The two cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh are quite different in character, with Glasgow having a grittier, more industrial heritage and Edinburgh a more genteel image – at least on the surface! The further north and west you head, the more captivating the scenery until you head over the sea to Skye, the island where Bonny Prince Charlie took refuge.
