Glenfinnan

Glenfinnan

Quaint, compact Glenfinnan makes a great choice for any Scottish Highlands travel itinerary. Steeped in history and surrounded by beautiful natural scenery, Glenfinnan is most enjoyably reached via the West Highland Railway, with daily services from Glasgow, Fort William and Mallaig. As you approach on the train, you will pass over one of Glenfinnan’s finest sights: the magnificently arched Glenfinnan Viaduct (now nicknamed ‘the Harry Potter bridge’), which provides a route over the lovely Loch Shiel. As well as boating trips on the Loch, there are many walking trails in the vicinity to enjoy, offering a rich taste of Highlands scenery. Finally, history enthusiasts will relish the Glenfinnan Monument, an informative tribute to Bonnie Prince Charlie, the leader of the Jacobite Rising of 1745.
