Enjoy two full days of game viewing activities at Ol Pejeta Bush Camp.
A stay at Ol Pejeta differs from traditional safaris due to the vast array of activities on offer, but the general rhythm is the same. We head out safari in the early morning and late afternoon when animals are at their most active. If you have hired a private vehicle, itineraries can be discussed with your guide.
Start the day bright and early with a wake-up call and tea or coffee. Enjoy breakfast before departing for your morning game drive (or set out a little earlier and take a picnic breakfast). Arrive back in camp mid-morning, with a chance to freshen up before lunch.
After a leisurely lunch, enjoy siesta time. Read a book or just relax and enjoy the views from your tentโs deck. Refuel with afternoon tea and then depart for an afternoon/evening game drive with sundowners. Arrive back at camp in time for drinks and dinner โ the perfect chance to unwind after a long day in the bush.
Activities include day and night game drives, bush breakfasts, visits to local schools and community development projects.
Activities that can be booked at an additional cost include: lion tracking, guided ravine river walks, a behind-the-scenes visit to the Endangered Species Enclosure, and half a day with the tracker/attack dogs (depending on availability).
Game drives
Learn about the varied animal species and birdlife of the conservancy on a game drive from Ol Pejeta Bush Camp. Let our expert guides inspire you with their knowledge and explore this diverse conservancy. Vehicles are open sided and seat up to four people. We offer all guests an opportunity to try our electric vehicle which is powered by the sun and offers guests not only a carbon neutral drive but also a silent one.
Night drives
Dusk and the early evening just after the sun has fallen below the horizon is a thrilling time to be on safari. Antelope come out to feed in the cool air, predators take advantage of the cloak of darkness to stalk their prey and nocturnal species such as aardvark, zorilla and white-tailed mongoose begin their day. Join a knowledgeable guide on a night drive and seek out the action that takes place after darkness falls. Until Aug 8, 2023: US per adult/US per child / Aug 9, 2023 onwards: US per adult/US per child
ACTIVITIES AT AN ADDITIONAL COST
Please note the Conservancy does take credit cards but it requires a trip to Control and the activities can be very popular, so we strongly recommend pre-booking to avoid disappointment.
Endangered species enclosure
Today, only two northern white rhino remain in the world and both are found at Ol Pejeta Conservancy in a 2,8 km2 enclosure protected by 24-hour armed security. Take the opportunity to visit the enclosure, learn from the keepers about the efforts being taken to preserve the last of this highly endangered species, as well as view Grรฉvyโs zebra and Jacksonโs hartebeest in a private and intimate setting.

Canine Anti-Poaching Unit visit
Visit the conservancyโs bloodhound dog kennels and learn about the training that transforms these canines into anti-poaching patrollers. After your tour, you can play a game of human-canine hide and seek, trying to evade the dogs and finding a spot to hide within the Morani Information Centre. A great way to interact, get a bit of exercise for you and the hounds as well as assist in their training.

Lion tracking
Several lions on the conservancy have been fitted with radio collars and you can learn how to track them with the researchers with a special tracking device. When you locate a pride, you will learn how to identify the individuals by notches on their ears, whisker patterns and other distinguishing marks, and all data is passed to the Ol Pejeta Ecological Monitoring team in order to further understand these magnificent predators. Guests remain in the vehicle at all times.

Wildlife โ livestock integration
Ol Pejeta operates a unique wildlife-livestock integration model; balancing over 6,000 cattle with conservation. During the activity guests will learn about the creation of biodiversity hotspots and either help move one of the conservancyโs predator-proof cattle bomas or assist in a cattle spray race.
Morning activity: 8 am duration of two hours. Closed shoes recommended. Until Aug 8, 2023: US per adult/US per child. Aug 9, 2023 onwards: US per adult/US per child.
Running with the rangers
Keep your fitness levels up while on safari to counteract all the delicious food youโll be eating by joining the Ol Pejeta Conservancy rangers on their early-morning run. They do this daily to keep fit, and we can arrange for our guests to join them on a run and have a cup of coffee with them afterward to learn more about their work to keep the wildlife on the conservancy safe. A fun and rewarding way to start your day.
Available on Wednesday and Friday at 7 am, maximum six people, minimum age 12 years. Suitable running shoes are needed as well as the ability to run a minimum of five kilometers without stopping. US per person.

Game drives depart in the early morning and late afternoon to take advantage of the cooler temperatures when animals are more active. The times will differ slightly with the seasons. If you have a private vehicle, you can talk to your guide about your schedule, but the below is a good example of what to expect.
Generally, you’ll start your day bright and early with a wake-up call and tea or coffee. Enjoy breakfast before you depart for your morning game drive (or have it packed as a picnic to take with you). You’ll arrive back in camp mid-morning, with a chance to freshen up before lunch.
After a leisurely lunch, enjoy siesta time. Read a book or just relax and enjoy the views from your tent or our viewing deck. Refuel with afternoon tea, then depart for your afternoon/evening game drive with sundowners.โฏYou’ll be back in time for drinks at the bar and dinner under the stars โ the perfect chance to unwind after a long day in the bush.
Game drives
We run game drives twice a day, around dawn and dusk when animals are more active. As we are in a private conservancy, we can drive off-road to get a closer look when we spot something in the bush. We are also able to drive after dark, which means better chances of spotting nocturnal animals. If you would like to experience the famous Masai Mara National Reserve, we can also arrange game drives there (at an additional cost).
Cultural and community visits
Most of our guides are from the local area and are more than happy to talk about their culture with guests. We can organize visits to local villages to extend that learning opportunity.
Photographic safari
Neighboring Naboisho is home to one of our specially modified photographic vehicles. The open vehicle allows keen amateurs and professional photographers alike to shoot at eye level with wildlife. It is equipped with all the gear to ensure award-winning shots โ from beanbags and camera rests to 360ยฐ swivel seats. You can read more about the vehicle here. Please enquire to ensure availability of the vehicle and confirm any additional fees.
Night drives
A night safari gives travelers the chance to see nocturnal animals in action. Our vehicles are equipped with special spotlights so you can have the thrill of watching predators such as lions, leopards and caracals as they stalk their prey.

After a morning activity (time permitting) and breakfast, you will be transferred to the airstrip with a packed lunch by a camp vehicle for your scheduled charter flights to Northern Serengeti (via Migori and Tarime). You will be required to clear immigration formalities en route. Here you will be met by a camp vehicle and transferred to Olakira Migration Camp, where you will stay for three nights.
Time permitting, enjoy lunch and an afternoon activity.
The mobile Olakira Migration Camp follows the wildebeest migration around the Serengeti, from the epic river crossings in the north to the southern plains where they give birth to thousands of calves each year. Stay with us to witness the greatest animal migration in the world. Between June and October, Olakira is in the north to witness the crossing of the Mara River. Here, watch thousands of wildebeest take a leap of faith into the water, facing hungry Nile crocodiles and cantankerous hippos. When the herds are on the move, the air is full of grunting, thudding hooves and billowing dust. From December until March, we move camp to the southern plains of the Serengeti, where the wildebeest go to give birth and graze on lush grass, and predators such as lions and cheetahs gather to prey on the young.
Even at night, the Olakira Migration Camp experience is special. Our mesh-covered stargazing tents allow guests to sleep under a sky of glittering stars.

The Serengeti together with Kenyaโs Masai Mara Game Park form Africaโs most famous wildlife park. The image of acacia trees on an endless grass plain epitomizes Africa for many, and then add a Masai warrior and some cattle to the picture and the conversation need go no further.
Tanzaniaโs famous migration is a restless thing: shifting with the seasons as the great herds of wildebeest wander between Kenya and Tanzania. And moving with them are the Olakira camps… as the migration progresses, so the campโs luxury tents pick up their feet and follow. In the dry months of winter Olakira Mara River enjoys some of the best views of the herds migrating out of Kenya across the treacherous Mara River. By November, with the herds on the march, Olakira swiftly follows to witness the incredible calving in the great grassy plains of the southern Serengeti.
Wildlife viewing and bird watching game drives are offered twice per day. Experienced guides encourage guests to see and experience the Serengeti through their eyes, sharing a world of small and large wonders that only they truly know and understand. Guests can arrange full days in the bush with picnic lunches at an additional cost.
