Mago National Park

Situated in the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ Region south of Addis Ababa in Ethiopia, Mago National Park is abundant in flora and fauna, and acts as a delightful stop on the way to the Mursi villages. Covered by dense acacia forests, the landscape provides thick foliage for the variety of animals, which include dik-diks, baboons and guinea fowl, and the shyer Burchell’s zebras, kudus, defassa waterbuck, gerenuks and black-and-white colobus. One of the most popular highlights of the area is meeting the Mursi tribe, which follows traditional customs and puts much emphasis on decorating themselves (with beads, headdresses, colourful, large painted clay lip plates and ritual scars). Don’t miss the opportunity to take a relaxing dip in one of the several hot springs.
