This morning, your morning game drive in the park is enhanced by a Lion Tracking experience! Queen Elizabeth National Park is a lion conservation unit and hence lions are a key attraction in the park. The park has over 250 of the large cats in both the northern and southern sector. Queen Elizabeth is the only national park in Uganda that offers lion tracking as an activity, offering participants an opportunity to get closer to the lions in their natural habitat. It involves following lions closely to learn about their behavior, natural habitat and feeding habits. The activity is led by experienced and knowledgeable researchers from the Uganda Carnivore Program, and by taking part, you are contributing to a worthwhile wildlife conservation initiative.
Uganda Carnivore Program โ Wildlife Conservation and Research Tours
The Uganda Carnivore program (UCP) is under the research department of the Uganda Wildlife Authority. The program began in the 1990โs and was then known as the Uganda Large Predator Project. The Uganda Large Predator Project started out of concern that an epidemic (the canine distemper Virus) that was decimating canines in the Serengeti National Park would spread to predators in Uganda. The fear among conservationists in Uganda was compounded by several lion deaths unknown causes. After some research, it was found that Ugandaโs lions where not dying from the distemper virus but from poisoning. A decision was made to continue with the project to monitor and do research on predator in the park. As time went on, the project expanded to include community conservation and other activities. As more partners came in support of the project, the project name changed to what is now known as the Uganda Carnivore Program.
Return to the lodge for an afternoon at leisure to enjoy one of the lodge activities, such as a 45 minute walk along the river. Don’t forget to set some time aside for your complimentary 30-minute massage offered during your stay.

7:45 am: After breakfast, take a short drive to Park Headquarters and meet with excellent local guides and trackers who will give a talk on the etiquette of gorilla trekking. You will then hike into the forest where the gorillas were seen the night before and track from that point.
The trekking can take from 1 to 6 hours and climb to altitudes in excess of 7,500 feet. The terrain is rough and at times muddy. Although the hike is physically demanding the beauty of the forest and surrounding scenery make the trekking worthwhile. Once the gorillas are located all fatigue is forgotten, as the experience is often described as being the most profound natural history experience in the world.
Picnic lunches are provided and it is important to take plenty of water. Cameras and plenty of fast speed film are recommended. It can rain at a few minutes notice; hence waterproof clothing is a good essential including zip lock bags for cameras and film.

Transfer either by road or by helicopter to Kigali.
Take a Tour of Kigali with a visit to the Genocide Museum. Stops include: a trip to the top of Mt. Kigali for views of the city and the countryside, a milk bar, a neighborhood market, a mural walk, a stop for a Rwandan lunch, and a neighborhood walk and ends at the Kigali Genocide Memorial for time to explore the museum on your own before continuing the tour.
Kigaliโs art scene is on the rise. If you are interested in art, unique and contemporary Rwandan art can be found all over the city, and Inema Arts Center houses some of Kigaliโs best and brightest talent. The gallery was founded by brothers Emmanuel Nkuranga and Innocent Nkurunziza and hosts the work of fourteen.
Time permitting you could visit the Presidential Palace, once home to President Habyarimana. The remains of the presidential plane are still visible on the grounds, and the crash is credited as the reason for the beginning of the Rwandan genocide. A visit to this museum is an interesting one, and few photographs are allowed to be taken onsite. Check out the Gaddafi Mosque, one of Rwandaโs most impressive mosques and structures. It was not actually constructed by Muammar Gaddafi, however, it was named as such, for the road that Gaddafi did build that runs parallel to the mosque. The mosqueโs official name, though no locals refer to it as such, is the Islamic Cultural Center. Located in the Nyamirambo neighborhood, the mosque also serves as school, clinic, and community center for the surrounding area.

Transfer to Kigali Airport for your 10:50 am scheduled charter flight to Serengeti National Park. You will be required to clear immigration formalities en route. Upon arrival into Kogatende Airstrip, you will be met by a camp vehicle and transferred to Olakira Migration Camp, where you will stay for three nights. Time permitting, enjoy lunch and an afternoon activity.
The mobile Olakira Migration Camp follows the wildebeest migration around the Serengeti, from the epic river crossings in the north to the southern plains where they give birth to thousands of calves each year. Stay with us to witness the greatest animal migration in the world. Between June and October, Olakira is in the north to witness the crossing of the Mara River. Here, watch thousands of wildebeest take a leap of faith into the water, facing hungry Nile crocodiles and cantankerous hippos. When the herds are on the move, the air is full of grunting, thudding hooves and billowing dust. From December until March, we move camp to the southern plains of the Serengeti, where the wildebeest go to give birth and graze on lush grass, and predators such as lions and cheetahs gather to prey on the young.
Even at night, the Olakira Migration Camp experience is special. Our mesh-covered stargazing tents allow guests to sleep under a sky of glittering stars.

The Serengeti together with Kenyaโs Masai Mara Game Park form Africaโs most famous wildlife park. The image of acacia trees on an endless grass plain epitomizes Africa for many, and then add a Masai warrior and some cattle to the picture and the conversation need go no further.
Tanzaniaโs famous migration is a restless thing: shifting with the seasons as the great herds of wildebeest wander between Kenya and Tanzania. And moving with them are the Olakira camps… as the migration progresses, so the campโs luxury tents pick up their feet and follow. In the dry months of winter Olakira Mara River enjoys some of the best views of the herds migrating out of Kenya across the treacherous Mara River. By November, with the herds on the march, Olakira swiftly follows to witness the incredible calving in the great grassy plains of the southern Serengeti.
Wildlife viewing and bird watching game drives are offered twice per day. Experienced guides encourage guests to see and experience the Serengeti through their eyes, sharing a world of small and large wonders that only they truly know and understand. Guests can arrange full days in the bush with picnic lunches at an additional cost.

One of our highlights, guided quad bike excursions through the fragile environs, is done with utmost care along specifically allocated pathways, so as to tread lightly on the dunes and preserve the unique and delicate habitats of this landscape.
In this isolated area, the Himba people continue their traditional semi-nomadic way of life and, when they are in the area, guests have an opportunity to learn about their lifestyle and customs.
Boating on the Kunene River (water levels permitting) provides our guests with the opportunity to venture through the lush riverside oases. Crocodiles and waterbirds seem out of place in this surreal, lunar-like landscape.

This awe-inspiring journey to the towering headland known as Cape Point passes magnificent beaches, breathtaking views, historic and picturesque coastal villages along the way. The Cape Peninsula is one of the worldโs most scenic areas and stretches from the city center to Cape Point.
Travel along the Atlantic Seaboard via Sea Point, Clifton and Camps Bay, stopping at a Llandudno look-out point before entering Hout Bay, a quaint village and fishing harbor with magnificent mountain views and beach. Continue along Chapmanโs Peak, one of the worldโs most breathtaking coastal drives, to Cape Point, perceived to be the meeting point of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. The Good Hope Nature Reserve has magnificent fynbos vegetation, birdlife, endemic antelope species and zebra, historic lighthouses and shipwrecks.
After lunch at a nearby restaurant (own account), head to historic Simonโs Town – a village with charming Victorian architecture, a naval base and a large penguin colony at the beautiful Boulders Beach. The Boulders Penguin Colony is home to a growing colony of the vulnerable African Penguin. Wooden walkways allow visitors to view the penguins in their natural habitat and wander through the information center.
Then it’s time to meander back towards Cape Town via the scenic Boyes Drive overlooking the False Bay coastline or via the winding Ou Kaapse Weg mountain pass.

You will be collected from your hotel by your private Alluring Africa driver/guide for Full day City Tour including Table Mountain & Kirstenbosch Gardens.
On seeing Cape Town for the first time in 1580, the great explorer, Sir Francis Drake, wrote that, โthis Cape is the most-stately thing and the fairest cape we saw in the whole circumference of the Earth.โ Hundreds of years later, the sites, sounds and tastes of Cape Town continue to mesmerize and enchant those fortunate enough to visit its shores.
This tour is designed to give you a taste of the rich cultural heritage of the Cape while enjoying the most expansive views of the City. The day commences with a trip by cable car to the peak of Table Mountain, one of the new 7 wonders of nature- where you can explore the unique fauna and flora while soaking in the breathtaking views of the Cape Peninsula below.
After making your way down by Cable Car, enjoy an informative drive around our vibrant City. Highlights include the National Parliament, Castle of Good Hope and the City Hall where Nelson Mandela gave his inaugural speech upon his release from prison in 1990.
Our next stop is District Six โ an area that was once home to thousands of colored people and described as the โSoul of Cape Townโ. Today, this almost barren land serves as a testament to the devastating effect of Apartheid and its forced removals. Our guides will bring District Six alive again with stories of this vibrant community and the struggles faced by their offspring today in trying to reclaim this land.
We then take a trip through the most iconic neighborhood in Cape Town- the Bo-Kaap (Malay/slave Quarter). With its colorful houses and cobble-stone roads, there is no better place to take Instagram-worthy pics. By now you may be feeling peckish – our guides will show you where to purchase the most authentic Cape Malay delicacies- from samosas to koeksisters, everything in the Bo Kaap is made
the traditional way- delicious! Your Guide will then accompany you to the vibrant Greenmarket Square fleamarket โ famous for its traditional curious and gifts.
From the city center we proceed to Kirstenbosch botanical gardens – one of the greatest Botanical gardens in the world. Here you can enjoy a picnic lunch or a sit-down meal (own account) in this tranquil garden setting before exploring the garden either at your leisure or via a guided tour by foot/golf cart. The 528-hectare garden is a UNESCO World Heritage Site which has more than 7000 species of plants – this is mother nature in all her glory.

After breakfast, you will be collected from your hotel by your Escape to the Cape Guide for a Private Full day tour of the Cape Winelands.
This delightful drive winds its way to the heart of the Cape Winelands, through superb mountain ranges, vineyards and Cape Dutch homesteads. Head to the highway as you travel to the heart of South Africa’s wine industry, Stellenbosch; boasting great beauty and culture that is steeped in South African history. Walk down the quaint avenues in the shade of giant oak trees and beautifully preserved historic buildings. With the sheer vastness of wine estates on offer, one is truly spoiled for choice. Enjoy your first tasting of the day at the Waterford Estate for a chocolate & wine pairing.
Travel over the Helshoogte Pass to the town of Franschhoek, historically dating back to the 17th century when the French Huguenots arrived. Billed as the Gourmet Capital of South Africa, this charming town, in a most picturesque valley, retains a French Huguenot style. We typically stop at Lunch Le Petit Ferme Restaurant (own account) soaking up their magnificent scenery. Post lunch you will have time to stroll the main road visiting its quaint boutiques.
Enjoy another wine tasting en route before returning to the bustle of city life after an enthralling day in the countryside.
