Enjoy three days at leisure in Stellenbosch.
A blend of historical architecture, student life, epicurean delights and oak-lined avenues, Stellenbosch is a picturesque university town surrounded by mountains and vineyards. A walking tour of the town centre allows visitors to take in its beautifully preserved Cape Dutch and Victorian architecture, as well as the many enticing art galleries, craft shops, clothing boutiques and gift stores, while foodies may prefer indulging in mouth-watering cuisine and fine wines at one of the chic restaurants or buzzing bistros. Stellenbosch is also the ideal base from which to explore the renowned local wine route, boasting a high proportion of the countryโs leading wine estates.
On one of they days, take a Private Guided Full day tour of the Cape Winelands.
This delightful drive winds its way through superb mountain ranges, vineyards and Cape Dutch homesteads. Travel through the heart of South Africa’s wine industry, Stellenbosch; boasting great beauty and culture that is steeped in South African history. Walk down the quaint avenues in the shade of giant oak trees and beautifully preserved historic buildings. With the sheer vastness of wine estates on offer, one is truly spoiled for choice. Enjoy your first tasting of the day at the Waterford Estate for a chocolate & wine pairing.
Travel over the Helshoogte Pass to the town of Franschhoek, historically dating back to the 17th century when the French Huguenots arrived. Billed as the Gourmet Capital of South Africa, this charming town, in a most picturesque valley, retains a French Huguenot style. We typically stop at Lunch Le Petit Ferme Restaurant (own account) soaking up their magnificent scenery. Post lunch you will have time to stroll the main road visiting its quaint boutiques.
Enjoy another wine tasting en route before returning to the comfort of your wine estate.

After breakfast, you will be collected by an Alluring Africa representative for your private road to head for the coast and Grootbos Nature Reserve Forest Lodge, where you will stay for two nights. Time permitting, enjoy lunch and an afternoon activity.
Built on a hillside where a continent ends, two oceans collide, and the smallest of the worldโs six floral kingdoms flourishes, the lodges of Grootbos Private Nature Reserve are uniquely positioned to capture the magic of South Africaโs Western Cape. Below, Walker Bay stretches to the horizon, home to the โmarine big fiveโ: great white sharks, southern right whales, seals, penguins, and dolphins; and vast coastal caves bear traces of a Stone Age civilization. Blanketing the hillside with bright, intricate flowers of every shade is the fynbos, or โfine bush,โ a hardy, complex plant family endemic to South Africa.

Enjoy two full days of game viewing activities at Singita Ebony Lodge.
The Sabi Sands is South Africa’s premier private game viewing destination. It was here that the southern African safari began and today this famous reserve offers exceptional game viewing and equally exceptional accommodations. Two perennial rivers, the Sabi and the Sand flow through this Game Park, sustaining the diverse fauna and flora of the area. The success of leopard viewing within the Sabi Sands is legendary. Elephants, lion, rhino, buffalo, cheetah, giraffe, zebra and a vast variety of antelope and other species can be closely observed in their natural environment.
Expect a wake-up call between 5:00 am and 5:30 am and gather for tea or coffee and rusks before heading out at first light. If you are lucky, the big cats will still be around after their night of hunting. This is Big 5 country (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo) all of which are possible to see during your stay in Sabi Sand Game Reserve.
There are also many other species to be seen, large and small, as well as fascinating plants and colorful birds. Stop halfway through the morning game drive for hot drinks and rusks from the Landrover snack box, and return to the lodge at around 9:00 am for breakfast. During the rest of the day, you are likely to see wildlife like Nyala antelope and Vervet monkeys wandering around the lodge.
At about 4:00 pm everybody convenes for high tea, before departing with the same ranger/tracker team for the day’s second African bush safari. Enjoy a sundowner drink along the way (additional charge), and get out of the vehicle to stretch your legs and watch the sun go down over the distant Drakensberg Mountains. As darkness descends it’s time to return to the safety of the landrover and let the tracker scan the landscape with a spotlight, picking out the glinting eyes of nocturnal animals. Return to the lodge at around 7:00 pm, where there is time to freshen up before dinner.
