Guests are accommodated in 10 beautifully-furnished deluxe tents, all boasting en-suite bathrooms and private verandas overlooking the busy waterhole. As well as 2 exclusive use options for private groups or families. Keep your binoculars on hand, as elephant, lion and buffalo can often be seen satisfying their thirst.

Adventures include day and night game drives, guided bush walks and exceptional game viewing in the seclusion of the camp’s unique underground hides. For those who are a little more adventurous, The Dove’s Nest Treehouse is available at no extra charge. Located 10 minutes away from camp, this rustic gem sleep out has the perfect vantage point from which to view wildlife safely, quietly.

After an exhilarating day of game viewing, guests can retreat to the cool refuge of the camp’s swimming pool and can enjoy delectable meals savoured al fresco or in the elegant dining room.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1

On arrival into Victoria Falls, after clearing customs and immigration, you will be met by an Alluring Africa representative and assisted to your scheduled charter flight to The Hide where you will stay for three nights. Arrive in time for lunch and an afternoon activity.

Day 2

Enjoy two full days of game viewing activities at The Hide. Hwange National Park is Zimbabwe’s biggest reserve, home to a profusion of wildlife, including giraffe, lion, zebra and approximately 40 000 elephants. It provides sanctuary for all the country’s endangered species, including a population of wild dogs thought to be among the most sizeable surviving groups on the continent. Terrain ranges from desert dunes and savannah lands to rocky outcrops and sparse forests, and visitors have the choice of game drives, guided walks or horseback safaris as a means of experiencing the park and its creatures.

There is no typical day at The Hide as it really depends on you how much or little you would like to do. Meal-times are normally a good chance to catch up with everyone and plan activities. The number of activities are not limited and as a guest, you are free to do as many as you wish.

Hwange was once the royal hunting ground of Ndebele kings and has long been known for its abundant and diverse wildlife. In particular, the park is known for herds of elephant and buffalo numbering in the hundreds. This is one of the best places to see lion, leopard and African wild dog among the hundred or so other mammal and four hundred bird species.

The Hide Safari Camp is fortunate to have the best of both worlds. While located within the Hwange National Park, it is also surrounded by a private concession which allows us to offer activities not otherwise permitted. Hwange is a vast playground worth exploring so you don’t have to worry about being bored.

Early morning walks are there for the thrill of encountering wildlife on its own terms and exploring the little surprises of the bush. Return after a morning walk to a spread of fresh fruit, pastries and a farmhouse breakfast. Sitting down to freshly brewed coffee and sharing the morning’s sightings and plans for the rest of the day is all part of the safari experience.

The rest of the day can be spent further afield on game drives in search of predators and prey alike. Sundowners are an important part of the experience. Enjoy the natural beauty with a cold drink in hand.

Day 4

At a time advised by camp management, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your scheduled charter flight to Changa Safari Camp airstrip. Board a scheduled boat transfer to Changa Safari Camp where you will stay for three nights. Arrive in time for lunch and an afternoon activity.

Day 5

Enjoy two full days of game viewing activities at Changa Safari Camp. Changa provides a base in which to immerse yourself; it’s off the beaten track, away from it all and intriguingly secluded in the heart of an interesting and diverse eco-system.

Here on the shores of Lake Kariba, with the Matusadona mountains in view, the proximity to nature and true wilderness is unparalleled. It is set on the shoreline on a private concession to ensure that this luxurious tented camp becomes a relaxing remote retreat.

Activities include: walking safaris, game drives, boating and fishing.

Each day ends with a sundowner on the shore, elephants chomping nearby, a fish eagle marking the moment perfectly… later, tales of excitement are shared with laughter around the fire, and a delicious dinner is the time for tomorrow’s game drive and picnic plans to be discussed. The pace is set by you.

A typical day in the camp starts early to coincide with the best times to view animals. You will be awoken by the age old “knock knock” at your door, accompanied by your choice of tea and coffee.

A continental breakfast ‘al fresco’ on the deck or on the beach is on offer before your morning activity, which could be a game drive, boating, fishing or a walk. Then, just before it gets too hot, we’ll have you back in camp for a delicious brunch, allowing you to siesta during the heat of the day. You can make yourselves at home, enjoy the cool breeze in the lounge, recline by the pool, or relax on a hammock under the canopy of a shady Terminalia tree.
