Enjoy two full days of game viewing activities at Chem Chem Lodge.
Explore the game-rich environment of the breath-taking Tarangire National Park from the comfort of an open 4×4. Choose either a full- or half-day excursion which includes a picnic breakfast or lunch at a private site. Expect vast elephant herds and huge baobabs.
Discover the wilderness through the eyes of those who have lived it and breathed it for centuries: the Maasai. A warrior will walk with you and a field guide โ a rare opportunity to learn how this local population has survived by living in harmony with wild animals for hundreds of years.
The sight of thousands of rose-coloured flamingos at sunrise is a matchless, magnificent sight. Their presence cannot be guaranteed, but if they arrive, this is a must-do. Wade slowly towards them in rubber boots or watch from the shore in a safari vehicle with a coffee and snacks.
Expand your cultural horizons and meet Choroko, Maasai chief, and some of his wives; Sindani, Seeki, Nebulu and Nemburis. Enjoy an authentic experience sharing stories and learning about the Maasai culture.
You have the option of a balloon safari, for an additional charge. Up before dawn for this oneโฆ Glide over the tops of ancient baobab trees as the sun rises, glinting off elephant herds, antelope, zebra, lion. Watch in silence as the world wakes up below you and savor sights never seen before. Enjoy a rustic bush-breakfast after the hour-long flight.
Let your senses slip into sheer relaxation mode with our small but sumptuous range of indulgent body massages. Drift away into a slumber as you are gently pampered in serene surrounds. And you can get yourself back into top-to-toe shape with a manicure or pedicure.
Relax on the tranquil shores of Lake Manyara with a drink in hand after the dayโs excitement of exploring the bush. Gather your thoughts as you watch the sun set, the first stars appear and the birds come home to roost.
Dine in a different location each night. From where to have dinner to whom you share it with, the choice is yours. The evening can be as private as you like or more convivial with other guests. Feel the whisper of the evening breeze as you eat beneath the stars. If you imagine, it we can do it.

The Ngorongoro Crater is often called ‘Africa’s Eden’ and the ‘8th Natural Wonder of the World. As the largest unbroken un-flooded caldera in the world the Ngorongoro Crater is 19km long by 16km wide by 1km deep. This truly magical place is home to Olduvai Gorge, where the remains of a 1.8 million year old skeleton was discovered. The Ngorongoro Crater and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area are without a doubt some of the most beautiful parts of Tanzania.
You can do an early morning game drive in an open to 4×4, and try and see an early morning kill and see the hippos meandering in to the hippo pool. You have the opportunity to pre-order your breakfast the day before so you can take it in to the crater, or you can come back to the lodge for breakfast. You can also participate in an afternoon game drive to see the lions basking in the sun.
You will descend into the crater through a lush highland forest, with magnificent birdlife to be spotted among the different tree species. Once on the grassy crater floor, you may discover a large variety of grazing herbivores, as well as the predators that are attracted by this abundant supply of prey. Depending on the time of year, you may see huge flocks of pink flamingo around the shores of the shallow Lake Magadi, while the surrounding swamp is inhabited by hippo.

Situated on the beautiful island of Zanzibar, Stone Town is the old city and cultural heart of the island and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The town is famous for its winding alleys fringed by grand architecture, bustling bazaars, sultanโs palace, mosques, the House of Wonders, gardens and the extravagant merchantsโ houses with their remarkably ornate doors. Stone Town is home to over fifty mosques, six Hindu Temples, a Catholic and an Anglican Cathedral. Visitors can also look forward to visiting the Old Fort along the waterfront, pay a visit to the Palace Museum, and sampling local cuisine at Forodhani Gardens a local seaside market. Donโt miss the opportunity to enjoy a sunset dhow cruise.

You will be collected from your hotel for a half day guided tour of Zanzibar. Sights will vary depending on interest and time as not everything can be accomplished in the allocated time.
Stone Town and its buildings are full of history and ancient stories on Zanzibar. Some sights to see during your tour, time permitting, can include the Cathedral, Slave Markets, the Sultans Palace, and the Old Arabic Fort, Tip Tipโs House, the fruit and vegetable market, Forodhani Park and admire the famous Zanzibar Doors in the petite streets along the way.
The tall spire and grey-yellow walls of the Anglican cathedral dominate the surrounding streets in this part of Stone Town, while the dark-wood pews and stained-glass windows will remind British visitors of churches back home. This was the first Anglican cathedral in East Africa, constructed in the 1870s by the Universities Mission to Central Africa (UMCA) on the site of the former slave market after slavery was officially abolished.
The Palace Museum is a large white building with castellated battlements, and was built in the late 1890’s for members of the Sultan’s family. Originally called the Sultan’s Palace, in 1911 it became the official residence of the Sultan of Zanzibar, but following the revolution in 1964, it was renamed the Peoples’ Palace. In 1994, the palace was turned into a museum dedicated to the history of Zanzibar’s Sultans which necessitated a third change of name to the Palace Museum. For the first time, visitors can see much of the Sultans’ furniture and other possessions that survived the revolution.
Pass by the building that was once the home of Tippu tip a slave trader who, during the mid-19th century, traveled for many years across the east African mainland, trading in slaves and ivory and became very wealthy. He also helped some of the European explorers such as Livingstone and Stanley with their supplies and route-planning. The house where Tippu Tip lived is now a block of flats occupied by several families. The house has not been maintained since its transformation, and one writer has called it ‘the most magnificent squat in all of Africa’. It is not open to visitors. However, the huge carved front door (a sign of Tippu Tip’s great wealth) leading into the courtyard can still be seen.
The Arab Fort was built between 1698 and 1701 by the Busaidi group of Omani Arabs. It is a large building with high, dark brown walls, and topped by castellated battlements. The fort is open to visitors and now contains various shops and an open air theater.
The market is a great place to visit even if you don’t want to buy anything. It is a vibrant place where everything under the sun is bought and sold. People bring their produce here from all over the island, and other people come to buy things they can’t get in their own villages. Of special interest is the huge selection of brightly colored kangas (worn by the local women) and the auctions that are held regularly.
Stroll through the Forodhani Park, a small park located along the main sea walk of Stone Town, just in front of the most famous buildings of Stone Town. The Gardens are especially busy after sunset, when tourists and local alike gather in a popular food street market in the main square, to have dinner enjoying Swahili and Zanzibari cuisine delicacies such as grilled seafood, samoosas, cassava and sweet potatoes.
No description of Stone Town could be complete without a mention of the famous Zanzibar doors. These massive teak or mahogany structures grace the front of almost every building of note. The craftsmen who carved the doors and the stone reliefs above them tailored each door to the social position, religious practices and occupation of its future owner. Thus a merchant who’d made his fortune from a fleet of fishing boats, for example, would reside behind a door whose carved patterns flowed sinuously up and down like the waves on the beach, or perhaps overlapped like the scales on a great marlin or swordfish.
