Today is at your leisure to explore Chefchaouen on your own.
Wander through the streets of Chefchaouen, which is split into an eastern half (the medina), and a western half (the ciudad nueva, or new city). The heart of the medina is Plaza Uta el-Hammam, with its unmistakable kasbah. The principal route of the new city is Ave Hassan II, which stretches from Plaza Mohammed V, a leafy square designed by artist Juan Miró, past the western gate of Bab el-Ain, around the southern medina wall, and into the medina itself. Here it dead-ends at Place el-Majzen, the main drop-off point. The falls of Ras-el-Maa lie just beyond the medina walls to the northeast.
The medina has become renowned as one of the most charming in Morocco. You’ll wander, entranced within the soft blue labyrinth created by the tinted whitewash of the town’s homes and streets. Local artisans contentedly show their skills in carpet weaving, leather goods, pottery, copperware, and woodworking. At the heart of the medina is a 17th-century mosque that fronts a picturesque square dotted with mulberry trees and inviting restaurants serving delicious cuisine fusing Moroccan and Spanish flavors. The ambiance captures the free spirit of Morocco of 1960’s fame. The effect of all this is dreamlike, making Chefchaouen an extremely tranquil and romantic place to visit.

Depart for the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, a day spent in the past, seeing ancient architecture and eating age old recipes, a feast fit for Anthony and Cleopatra themselves! It was developed from 3rd century BC onwards as a Phoenician and later a Carthaginian settlement. The town fell to local tribesmen in 285 and was never recovered by the Roman Empire. Constantly uncovering this city beneath the sands of time, now exclusively a Moroccan project runs by Moroccan archaeologists.
Following a tour head to Domaine Zouina Wine Estate, located at the foot of the Middle Atlas, in the antique frame which has been born Epicuria & Volubilia. Discover its vineyard, its olive grove, its cellars and its products, stretched over 115 hectares, surrounded by Cypress and olive trees to protect the vines in this ancient land that gives off an unique signature. Vinters have selected the best grape varieties: syrah, cabernet sauvignon, tempranillo for red wines; chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, sauvignon gris, viognier and vermentino for white wines; caladoc, mourvèdre and marselan for Rosés. At a time to be advised: Depart with your Private Driver for the journey to Merzouga, the threshold of the Sahara Desert. Stopping in the Middle Atlas Mountains for some fun with the Barbary apes, we continue to encounter village and nomadic life before coming across the Ziz Valley and Oasis which give a sense of the timelessness of the Moroccan landscape and culture.
You have the option for a camel ride or 4×4, to head across a sea of soft, warm, apricot-toned sands to a very special retreat: Desert Luxury Camp, a charming bivouac of a dozen oriental-inspired tents in the most beautiful corner of Morocco, where you will spend one night. Camel Trekking
The Camel has been a mainstay of desert life for thousands of years and is an essential activity for your desert experience. Once used to ferry precious cargo from sub-Saharan Africa to the trading ports of the Mediterranean coast, they are now your sturdy “all terrain vehicles” for getting around Erg Chebbi. With a bit of assistance from your guides, you’ll soon be slipping into the pace of the caravan – at leisure to take in the spectacle and silent grandeur of the desert as you ride across the dunes.

The breathtaking desert landscape is perfect for both the professional and amateur photographer. Its actually quite difficult to take a bad picture here – especially at sunrise and sunset. Our guides will be happy to make suggestions for times and places where you can take wonderful photos – so you can remember fond memories and plan to visit us again!
Guided Walks
Our two hour guided walks are very popular with our guests – but you may also arrange to have longer or shorter walks during your stay. Guided walks are a great way to “see” the life that hides in the desert. In the cool hours of early morning, tracks in the sand left by nocturnal creatures provide vidence of a surprising quantity and variety of fauna: The Fennec, desert Hedgehog, jerboa, and more.
Walking
If you are looking to challenge your physical fitness, few will argue that climbing across the dunes makes for an amazing workout. It is also just a lot of fun! If you plan to venture out for a long walk out of range of the camp, please request an escort with a Berber guides. It is very easy to get lost in an unfamiliar terrain. Never forget to bring water – it is available at all times.
Sand-boarding
Don’t be intimidated! No experience is needed to take advantage of this unique desert adventure – just determination. It’s a heart pumping workout and amazing fun – running up the dunes and surfing your way down. The fine desert sand makes the perfect “wave” – and a great cushion for your landing.
Sandhamman
Feeling a bit achey? Many locals travel to Merzouga during the summer months for a very special type of restorative treatment. The warm sands are said to alleviate the discomfort of painful joints. This involves being buried in the sand – up to your neck – for two minutes. If you would like to give it a try, we’ll be happy to oblige! It may come in handy after Sandboarding.
After the sunsets, the night comes alive with music and entertainment. It seems that a love of music and storytelling runs through the veins of everyone in Morocco – and our guides are no exception. Join us for our nightly campfires – full of song and rhythms of the desert. By the end of your visit you’ll be drumming and signing along!

Sidi Boubkar Gorge and the Monkey’s Fingers : a walk of 3 to 6 hours, depending on your level of fitness. It will take you along the banks of the Dades River, from the beautiful kasbahs of Ait Arbi village to the Sidi Boubkar Gorge, via the cliffs of Tamlalt and the famous rock formations known as the ‘Monkey’s Fingers’.
The Dry Valley : this is a canyon walk of about 6 hours which sets off at the foot of the Dades Gorge, climbing up through a series of spectacular canyons to high plateaus, where you can admire superb views of the valley.
Continue to Skoura where you will stay at Le Jardin Des Skoura for one night.
In the heart of the Skoura palm grove, renowned for its many kasbahs, is a kasbah which opens its doors to a universe of minerals and plants, where it may seem that time has stood still. Surrounded by a magnificent garden, featuring a number of different trees and fragrances, you will find five spacious bedrooms and three suites with air conditioning. On winter nights, the convivial dining room is warmed up by the atmosphere of a lovely chimney fire. The restaurant features refined Moroccan and Mediterranean specialties. In the summer, you can enjoy relaxing comfortably on the terraces, lay by the poolside under the olive trees. Depart for the High Atlas Mountains, making a stop at Ait Ben Haddou en route. Set along the former caravan route between Marrakech and the Sahara, Ait Ben Haddou is a popular tourist destination in the Ouarzazate province. This ancient Moroccan village is a traditional mud-brick city edging the High Atlas Mountains. It has featured in many Hollywood movies including Lawrence of Arabia, Jesus of Nazareth, Jewel of the Nile, Gladiator and thanks to the Hollywood touch ups through the years, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is well preserved. It is a ‘ksar’ which means fortified village and served as a convenient stopover for hundreds of caravans of camels following the renowned trans-Saharan trade route. Visitors can wander the ancient alleyways, view the traditional architecture, and visit the Granary perched at the top of the hill. Don’t miss the opportunity to view the Mausoleum of Ben-Haddoun at the foot of the hill on the opposite side of town and soak up the breathtaking views.
Continue the journey through the High Atlas Mountains via Tizi-n-Tichka pass where you will experience some of the most breathtaking views Morocco has to offer. Here you will stay at Douar Samra for one night.
Forget the anonymous and characterless hotel stays. At Douar Samra, you will know everyone’s name (even the donkey’s!), and you’ll be a part of the family. It’s a traditional Berber home restored as a guesthouse but didn’t lose its original character. Set in Imlil Valley, in the Atlas Mountains, it promises breathtaking views at every turn, especially from the rooftop terraces.
Each room has its own name and unique décor, but they have a lot in common: they’re all warm, cozy, and homely. Quilts, woolen rugs, a tiny fireplace, exposed wooden beams, and lighting by candle-light offer a heart-warming combination.

Head along the Mizane Valley, first passing by the village of Aremd and then onto the shrine of Sidi Chamarouch. Continue east, crossing the flood plains as the route takes you along mule tracks and up into the high rocky cliffs above the valley. Crossing the river you eventually come to the pastoral shrine of Sidi Chamarouch, which attracts tourists and pilgrims. From here the trail continues to climb steadily, snaking and zigzagging its way up to the snowline and the Toukbal Refuge (3206m) where you will stop for the night.

Hike to Toubkal summit (13,671 ft). If physical fitness permits, you can add the peak of Tibherine (2753 ft).
Early in the morning we make our attempt on the summit of Jebel Toukbal, the highest peak in Northern Africa (13,671 ft). The route takes you up the south cirque, crossing the stream above the refuge. The walking is relatively straightforward, but the altitude will make the going quite difficult in parts. The views along the way make the journey more than worthwhile. When you reach the summit you will see that the vistas across the surrounding landscape are quite breathtaking. From here there are unrestricted views in every direction, from the Marrakech Plain to the High Atlas in the north and as far south as the Anti-Atlas and the Sahara.
After summiting, you will retrace your steps down the mountain and head back towards Imlil to stay at Douar Samra for one more night.

As you leave the High Atlas Mountains, you will have the opportunity to stop at a Argan cooperative (if of interest), which is run by the local Berber women. They demonstrate how they extract the golden argan oil from the argan nuts. The argan oil is referred to as “Moroccan gold” and is used in foods and cosmetics and is famous for its many healthy benefits. You can also visit a bio-aromatic garden with medicinal and decorative plants, located next to the cooperative.

While Marrakesh is alive with modern life and development, it is also home to a wealth of buildings, sites and art facts of crucial importance to Moroccan history. Your vehicle, driver and tour guide are at your disposal for the morning. Tour the medina with the Jamaa El Fna Square, the Jewish Market, and Bab El Khemis Market and “hidden gems tour” to meet the people and know more about the traditions that are still preserved. Some sights worth seeing are the Koutoubia Minaret, the Saadien Tombs, the El Badi and El Bahia Palaces and Dar Si Said, home to the Museum of Moroccan Arts.
The Majorelle Garden is a two and half acre botanical garden and artist’s landscape garden, created by the French Orientalist artist Jacques Majorelle over almost forty years, starting in 1923, and features a Cubist villa designed by the French architect, Paul Sinoir in the 1930s.
Afterwards head to Riad Kniza where you will stay for three nights.
Dating from the 18th century, Riad Kniza is a small, luxury “Hotel de Charme” in the heart of the old Médina of Marrakech, completely restored by Haj Mohamed Bouskri using traditional materials and artisans to recreate an authentic Moroccan experience as in days gone by.
Teams of Morocco’s most highly skilled craftsmen have honored their masters in creating this gem of Moorish architecture. Riad Kniza, with its eleven tastefully decorated rooms and suites, is an excellent point of departure from which to explore the city. It is conveniently located within only few minutes’ walk from the famous Jema l’ Fna square, the wonderful souks and the most important monuments and cultural treasures of this imperial city, and a short distance from the Gueliz, the modern quarter of Marrakech.

This morning you will go on a Side Car Tour through the alleyways of Marrakech. Ride side car through the alleys and souks of the medina, venture across the palmeries and encounter small villages or rally the ville nouveau, whichever your choice! This is a fun and exciting way to explore Marrakech not normally accessible on foot. This elegant eco-farm is set amongst 15 hectares of olive groves, vegetable gardens and orchards in a traditional Berber hamlet with the imposing silhouette of the High Atlas Mountains dominating the landscape. Your host will teach you how to utilize herbs and spices as well as prepare a typical Moroccan meal including break making Moroccan style.
