The Great Pyramids of Giza are the only present-day survivors of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, built over 4,500 years ago as giant tombs for the mummies of the pharaohs Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, who were father, son and grandson respectively. The pyramids are truly monumental in scale, with the largest – Khufu’s – constructed from over two million blocks. Contrary to popular beliefs, the pyramids were not built by slaves but by Egyptian peasants, whose labor in building the pyramids paid their taxes to the Pharaoh, who also fed, clothed and housed them.
Nearby sits the enigmatic Sphinx with the body of a lion and the face of a man wearing a royal head cloth, which workers may have based on King Khafre to guard his enormous funerary monument. About a thousand years after the Sphinx was built it was covered in sand until a young prince had a dream in which the Sphinx told him that if he cleared the sand away, he would become Pharaoh. This story is told on the ‘Dream Stela’ that was placed between the Sphinx’s paws by King Tuthmose IV.
Head to the legendary city of Memphis, founded in 3100 BC by Menes, the Pharaoh who united upper and lower Egypt. It became the capital of the Old Kingdom and the heart of Egypt’s busy import-export activity, with traders from around the world giving it a cosmopolitan atmosphere.
Next, move on to Sakkara, the former necropolis (cemetery) for the ancient Egyptian city of Memphis and the place where the very first pyramids were built as tombs for kings. Instead of the smooth sides featured on other pyramids, the pyramids here feature six steps on the outside, representing the pharaoh’s stepladder to heaven. Discover the famous Step Pyramid of King Zoser, the first pyramid ever built and the world’s oldest freestanding stone structure. You could also admire the beautiful tomb art at Sakkara, which gives great insight into the lives of the ancient Egyptians.

The Red Pyramid, also called the North Pyramid, is the largest of the pyramids located at the Dahshur necropolis in Cairo, Egypt. Named for the rusty reddish hue of its red limestone stones, it is also the third largest Egyptian pyramid, after those of Khufu and Khafre at Giza. It is also believed to be Egypt’s first successful attempt at constructing a “true” smooth-sided pyramid. Local residents refer to the Red Pyramid as el-heram el-watwaat, meaning the Bat Pyramid.
The Red Pyramid was not always red. It used to be cased with white Tura limestone, but only a few of these stones now remain at the pyramid’s base, at the corner. During the Middle Ages much of the white Tura limestone was taken for buildings in Cairo, revealing the red limestone beneath.

Visit the Grand Egyptian Museum, which features artifacts from the Pharaonic period. You will be able to visit the laboratories and the conservation center. Twenty years since the late Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak laid its foundation stone, the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) is inching closer to completion. As of March 2022, more than 56,000 of an estimated 100,000 artefacts had been transferred to the site near the Pyramids of Giza. At nearly 500,000 sq. m and with an expected cost of more than bn, the GEM will be the world’s largest museum dedicated to a single civilization. The displays will show objects chronologically from prehistory to the Greco-Roman period and it will also bring together the entire collection of Tutankhamun’s treasures—more than 5,300 artefacts—for the first time since his tomb was discovered a century ago by the British archaeologist Howard Carter in the Valley of the Kings near Luxor. The vast atrium and grand stairway, complete with its colossal statue of Ramses II, is finished.
Next, visit the fascinating Khan El-Khalili Bazaar is reputed to be the largest bazaar in the Middle East. Originally founded as a watering stop for caravanserai in the 14th century, the bazaar has now grown to vast proportions. Wander through the labyrinth of narrow streets to find workshops and stalls selling all manner of things from woodwork and glassware to leather goods and perfumes.
After lunch, visit the Citadel, a medieval fortress perched high on limestone hills above Cairo, which was built in 1176 to protect the city from crusaders. Today, the citadel complex houses various mosques and museums, including the National Military Museum.
With its grand, soaring architecture and rich decoration, the Mosque of Sultan Hassan, completed in 1363, is one of the finest in Egypt and also houses the mausoleum where Sultan Hassan’s sons are buried. A short walk across to the Mosque of Sultan Hassan, discover the much newer Refaie Mosque, completed in 1912 with well-preserved, colorful decoration. Buried in tombs there is a Muslim saint, a companion of the Prophet Mohamed, Egypt’s last royal family and the last Shah of Iran.
At the end of your tour, return to your hotel for an evening at leisure.

The Valley of the Kings was the royal cemetery for 62 Pharaohs, and is located on the west bank at Luxor. The only entrance to this place was a long narrow winding path. This was a secret place, where sentries were placed at the entrance of the Valley.
The Temple of Queen Hatshepsut also served as a dedication to the sun god Amon-Ra, and was the first of it’s kind to depict the heritage of divinity of a female Pharaoh. The Colossi of Memnon are two enormous moments to Pharaoh Amenhotep III.
After the tour, sail to Edfu while enjoying lunch on board.

Enjoy lunch while sailing to Kom Ombo.
In the afternoon, visit Kom Ombo Temple.
The Temple of Kom Ombo stands on the east bank of the Nile, right next to the river, about 4Km from the town. It was dedicated to two Gods, Horus and Sobek The Temple was mainly dedicated to the God Sobek, the crocodile God, together with his wife, in another form of the Goddess Hathor.
This evening a Galabia Party follows dinner.

This morning, set sail to Aswan.
With your private guide, visit the Aswan High Dam and the granite quarries where the stone for the ancient monuments and modern dam of Aswan were cut.
Continue by motorboat to the beautiful island of Philae to see the exquisite, gleaming white Temple of Isis.
After lunch, sail on a traditional Egyptian “felucca” (sailboat) which glides along the Nile, passing by Lord Kitchener’s Island and the dramatic white marble Aga Khan Mausoleum.

Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to the monument The Abu Simbel temples are two massive rock temples at Abu Simbel, a village in Aswan Governorate, Upper Egypt, near the border with Sudan. They are situated on the western bank of Lake Nasser, about 140 miles southwest of Aswan (190 miles by road).
The complex is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the “Nubian Monuments”, which run from Abu Simbel downriver to Philae (near Aswan). The twin temples were originally carved out of the mountainside in the 13th century BC, during the 19th dynasty reign of the Pharaoh Ramesses II. They serve as a lasting monument to the king and his queen Nefertari and commemorate his victory at the Battle of Kadesh. Their huge external rock relief figures have become iconic.
Your guide will explain the history of the monument before you enter on your own to enjoy the journey through time.
