Monument Valley

Monument Valley

The vast, wild and sunbaked desert plane of Monument Valley is situated in In San Juan County, within the southeastern corner of Utah. This red-sand desert region is known for its towering sandstone buttes and forms part of the sacred Navajo Nation lands. Here, the stars of the Milky Way can be seen exceptionally clearly at night, and visitors can enjoy hiking, jeep tours, horse riding, and stargazing on their own or as part of narrated tours with Navajo guides. Tour the Monument Valley Drive for spectacular vistas, hike Wildcat Trail for closer views of the buttes, learn more about the area at the Goulding Film and Cultural History Museum, and watch the sunrise from one of the many viewpoints.
