Tairua

Tairua

One of the real gems of the Coromandel Peninsula, Tairua is set on a sheltered river estuary that blends into an azure bay. Favourite activities include swimming in the sheltered bay of the local harbour, kayaking around the coast beneath the volcanic twin peaks of grand Mount Paku, and walking the area’s many bush trails. Art lovers should not miss a visit to The Little Gallery of Fine Arts, a beautiful art museum showcasing pieces by local artists. A number of islands are located just off the mainland and offer fantastic diving and fishing opportunities.
