A small village located in Ireland’s east-central County Clare region, Bunratty is a charming place that attracts visitors from all over the world with its famous Bunratty Castle and its popular adjoining Folk Park. The castle was originally built in 1425, but tasteful restorations – not to mention gorgeous 15th- and 16th-century interiors and finishings – have succeeded in preserving the aesthetic and atmosphere of its medieval heyday. It is even possible to dine inside Bunratty Castle (ask about their Medieval Banquets), while within the Castle’s stately grounds you will find Bunratty Folk Park, a fun and interactive recreation of 19th-century village life. In addition to this main attraction, the village of Bunratty itself is full of quaint buildings and traditional Irish pubs, making it an ideal base for travellers exploring the sights of the surrounding area.
