Enjoy a full day game drive in Ngorongoro Crater.
The Ngorongoro Crater is often called ‘Africa’s Eden’ and the ‘8th Natural Wonder of the World. As the largest unbroken un-flooded caldera in the world the Ngorongoro Crater is 19km long by 16km wide by 1km deep. This truly magical place is home to Olduvai Gorge, where the remains of a 1.8 million year old skeleton was discovered. The Ngorongoro Crater and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area are without a doubt some of the most beautiful parts of Tanzania.
You can do an early morning game drive in an open to 4×4, and try and see an early morning kill and see the hippos meandering in to the hippo pool. You have the opportunity to pre-order your breakfast the day before so you can take it in to the crater, or you can come back to the lodge for breakfast. You can also participate in an afternoon game drive to see the lions basking in the sun.
You will descend into the crater through a lush highland forest, with magnificent birdlife to be spotted among the different tree species. Once on the grassy crater floor, you may discover a large variety of grazing herbivores, as well as the predators that are attracted by this abundant supply of prey. Depending on the time of year, you may see huge flocks of pink flamingo around the shores of the shallow Lake Magadi, while the surrounding swamp is inhabited by hippo.

Game Drives: Daily game drives with professional guides provide the perfect opportunity to get up close to Africaโs incredible animals, while evening drives reveal the elusive magic of nocturnal Africa.
Community Visits: Perhaps Africaโs greatest beauty is its people and, as part of Singitaโs deep commitment to community development, guests are invited to visit the nearby communities. The Grumeti Fund Community Outreach Program works with residents of the 21 villages bordering Singita Grumeti to realise their development goals. We partner with these communities to address issues of education, natural resource management, enterprise development and water management. We encourage guests to visit these communities to experience the success of these projects firsthand.
Guided Safari Walks: Walking safaris are an incredible way to experience the bush up close and personal. Your expert guide and tracker will accompany you as you track animals on foot through the wilderness and explore the magnificent plants and landscapes around you. We suggest a minimum age of 15 years for this activity, but participation is at the discretion of your Field Guide.
Stargazing: There is perhaps no more transcendent experience than looking up at a full sky of sparkling stars. Man has had a love affair with the nighttime sky for centuries and with very little pollution and no city lights to detract for the stars, your view of the heavens here will be crystal clear โ nothing between you and the vast African sky above.
Archery: Spend a morning on taking lessons from your guide on how to shoot with a bow and arrow. With a bow for children and a professional compound bow with arrows for adults, it is a fun activity for the whole group.

Enjoy a morning Golden Monkey Trek (unless you prefer a 2nd gorilla trek – additional charge).
GOLDEN MONKEY TRACKING
With their prominent golden fur coat, wide fuzzy faces, and beady eyes, the endangered golden monkeys are a thrilling highlight of the national park โ amazing to observe up close. Following the fresh leftovers of bamboo, their large groups are usually easy to trace at the bottom of the volcanoes. Youโll love simply watching them graze, socialize, and leap dramatically between trees with the aid of long tails.
The afternoon is free for other optional activities:
ASCENT TO CRATER LAKE
Indulge in an epic adventure on the Bisoke volcano, scaling the forest to be rewarded with a spectacular crater lake at the summit. Approximately 4-hours up and 2-hours down, depending on ability, the experienced rangers will reveal a world of wonder as you traverse the rugged landscape. From native flora and fauna to local history, youโll learn and see a lot during this full-day jungle expedition.
MUSANZE CAVE EXPLORATION
Step back in time to a network of caves formed 65 million years ago by molten lava flows that forged the epic Albertine Rift Valley. 2-kilometers of easy hiking through the caves reveals dramatic rock formations, dotted with cascading light shafts, spilling greenery, and no doubt youโll meet the local colony of bats, casually hanging from the stone.
BUHANGA ECOPARK
This intimate forest is a hidden treasure that holds a great deal of biological and cultural significance. The park is set upon an ancient sacred site that was used for the coronation rituals of Rwandan kings. Rugged trails are forged of cut lava stones, weaving through sprawling plants and towering trees to the natural soundtrack of birds and the flash of colorful butterflies. There are several sites of interest to visit along the way, and plenty of folklore to charm you.
IBYโIWACU CULTURAL VILLAGE
Follow the sounds of thunderous drumming and joyful dancing to this traditional Rwandan village, located just outside the national park. A โliving museumโ, it reveals the rituals of life in the ancient Rwandan kingdom and features hands-on activities to acquaint you with the friendly locals. Some of the presenters and performers are in fact former poachers who have been rehabilitated by the opportunity to work in the village.
