Enjoy full day in Siem Reap.
4:45 am: You will be collected from your hotel by a Trails of Indochina-Cambodia representative and taken on a Well Off The Beaten Path Tour.
Wake up early and transfer by private vehicle to the West Gate of Angkor Wat from where the sunrise can be best observed. Angkor Wat (early 12th century) is surrounded by a 190 meters wide moat 1.5 kilometers by 1.3 kilometers and is claimed to be the largest religious building in the world. It is certainly one of the wonders of the ancient world. You will be amazed by the sheer size of the temple, which took 30 years to construct & used the labors of upto 300,000 workers. Angkor Wat was built as the earthly representation of the universe with its’ central tower symbolizing Mt Meru which, Hindus believe, is at the centre of the Universe. Return to the West Gate and breakfast can be enjoyed just outside of the Angkor complex at a local restaurant (own cost). Drive to visit Banteay Kdei built between the 12th and 13th centuries. The ruined condition of the temple in no way detracts from the grandeur of this walled temple. Banteay means fortified monastery and refers to the double wall surrounding it. Continue to Ta Prohm, this beautiful temple, built in 1186 as a Buddhist temple dedicated to the mother of Jayavarman VII, is one of Angkorโs jewels and is overgrown with fig trees, giving a haunting yet exotic atmosphere. The magnificent roots of the trees have merged over the centuries with the templeโs huge stone blocks, creating a โforgotten cityโ feeling. Pause at Ta Keo, which would have been the finest temples in Angkor had it been completed. A short distance further are the twin temples of Chau Say Tevoda and Thommanon. Return to town for a rest and relaxation at the hotel in the mid-afternoon.
Drive to Angkor Thom, not a temple, but an entire walled city of 9 sq km and served as the ancient royal Capital of the Khmer Empire from approx. 1181. With a probable population of 1 million, it was far bigger and grander than any city in Europe at the time. Your guide will take you to the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King. The center piece of Jayavarman VII’s Capital is the Bayon temple and, as you approach, you will notice the 216 giant, enigmatic, smiling faces looking into every direction. Return to the South gate where you will board a small, private boat out to Prasat ChrungTemple to watch the amazing sunset.

8:00 am: You will be collected from your hotel by a Trails of Indochina-Vietnam representative and taken on a Danang-Hue City Tour. You will begin with your drive 2.5 hours from Danang city through the Hai Van tunnel to Hue which once served as an imperial capital to the Nguyen Lords from the 17th to the 19th century. With splendid emperorsโ tombs, ancient pagodas and the remains of the Citadel, the city retains its royal charm. First, pay a visit to the Imperial Citadel, a UNESCO listed site. Enter through the towering main gate and you will appreciate the magnificent architecture and gardens while your guide explains about the events and the intrigue of the former royal court. Despite being bombed heavily during the war years, there are some incredibly well preserved sections still intact and others which are being lovingly restored. Then head to the Royal Tomb of Minh Mang. He was the second Nguyen Emperor, very powerful and distrustful of Western religions. His interest in architecture brought major new construction to the Imperial City as well as a large garden with lakes and pavilions, all in Chinese traditional style. Finish the trip at the elaborate Khai Dinh Royal Tomb. Its architecture showcases elements of both eastern and western design. Drive back to Danang city in the late afternoon.

Enjoy full day at leisure or relax on the beach at your hotel.
This coastal city in central Vietnam was a favourite with American soldiers during the Vietnam-US War, mainly for the R&R opportunities it offered by way of China Beach, located to the southwest. Da Nang is situated on a long thin peninsula and offers about 30km of shoreline – crystal clear lagoon waters on its one side and beach on the other. Naturally there are plenty of water activities on offer, including fishing, water-skiing, diving and yachting, while visitors interested in culture can pop into the Museum of Cham Sculpture, or stroll down the Han Riverfront to see how the city is developing. Day trips to Nui Son Tra (Monkey Mountain), the Ba Na Hills and the five Marble Mountains are must-dos.
